Dear Colleague

The Department of Health has written to contractors detailing amendments that have been made to the Human Medicines Regulations 2012 (see here).

The Statutory Instrument (SI) titled The Human Medicines (Coronavirus) (Further Amendments) Regulations 2020 was laid before Parliament on the 18th December 2020 and a can be accessed at: www.legislation.gov.uk/id/uksi/2020/1594

Among other amendments, the SI provides that Patient Group Directions (PGDs) allowing a retail pharmacy business to administer COVID-19 or influenza vaccines may be used at a location other than a registered pharmacy, thus making it lawful for administration of such vaccines away from the registered pharmacy premises.

ACTION

Contractors are advised to: Note the amendments

CPNI colleagues will keep you informed of any further amendments to medicines legislation which impact on the community pharmacy sector.

Yours sincerely

Mike
