UPDATE
FAO Contractors providing the COMMUNITY PHARMACY SEASONAL FLU VACCINATION (CPFV) SERVICE FOR HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE WORKERS (HSCWS
Dear Colleague,
Please find correspondence here from Joe Brogan, Assistant Director of Integrated Care, Head of Pharmacy and Medicines Management.
Summary:
- New allocation of Influenza vaccine available from Monday 30th November 2020.
- The additional allocation will consist of egg-based Quadrivalent Inactivated Vaccine (QIVe) Sanofi Pasteur as opposed to the cell-based Quadrivalent Inactivated Vaccine (QIVc) Flucelvax previously allocated.
- The service specification, PGD and supporting documents have been amended to reflect the addition of the Sanofi Pasteur QIVe and can be found at www.pha.site/CPFV.
Action:
Pharmacies are asked to:
- Ensure they use existing stock of QIVc Flucelvax in the first instance.
- Consider accepting transfer of excess QIVc Flucelvax stock from other pharmacies before placing an order for the Sanofi Pasteur QIVe.
- The amended PGD must be signed by the authorising manager and all pharmacists before the eggbased Quadrivalent Inactivated Vaccine (QIVe) can be administered.
- The CPFV e-record form has been updated to allow pharmacists to select either the QIVc Flucelvax (cell based) or the QIVe Sanofi Pasteur (egg based) vaccine from Monday 30th November 2020. All staff completing CPFV e-record forms must ensure they select the correct vaccine that has been administered to the patient.
- Standard Operating Procedures should be amended to reflect any changes.
