Prescription Submission to the Business Services Organisation

Dear Colleague,

Please find correspondence from the BSO here which outlines the timetable for prescription submissions to the BSO until April 2021.

Please note: To facilitate the November 2020 prescription payment being made by BSO on 31st December and to support Contractors who have opted to bring their second November prescription submission directly to BSO the BSO reception will remain open TONIGHT until 9pm (Wednesday 9th December 2020).  It is important that any prescriptions being brought directly to BSO are handed to BSO personnel in the BSO reception and signed in accordingly.

The Department of Health published updated EU Exit Operational Readiness Guidance and frequently asked questions on 25th November.  This Echo session will provide community pharmacy attendees with a further update and clarification in relation to the Guidance. There will also be a Questions and Answers section. Joining details for this important Echo session are provided below.

COMMUNITY PHARMACY SERVICE: LIVING WELL CAMPAIGNS

Please find attached for your attention, correspondence from Kathryn Turner, Pharmacy Lead HSCB & Stephen Wilson, Assistant Director of Communications and Knowledge Management PHA.

Summary

  • The first campaign of 2020/2021, Looking after your health and wellbeing during COVID-19, is due to finish on 30th November 2020.
  • The second campaign “Vaccinations” is due to commence mid December 2020. This campaign will focus on promoting the positive benefits of getting vaccinated and the safety and efficacy of vaccines. It will also raise awareness of the COVID-19 vaccine with the aim of reassuring the public. Until resources are received for this campaign, please keep promoting campaign “Looking after your health and wellbeing during COVID-19”.
  • Please note, the online evaluation survey is a vital element of both campaigns, this temporarily replaces the previous evaluation template. Completion is required to gather feedback, gauge your pharmacy’s experiences with the campaign and provide important evidence to inform service funding.

Action

  • Please complete the short online evaluation survey for the first campaign, Looking after your health and wellbeing during COVID-19 by 18th December 2020, accessed here.
  • If you have not received your ‘Vaccinations’ resource pack by 19th December 2020 please email reception.pha@hscni.net.

FAO Contractors providing the COMMUNITY PHARMACY SEASONAL FLU VACCINATION (CPFV) SERVICE FOR HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE WORKERS (HSCWS

Dear Colleague,

Please find correspondence here from Joe Brogan, Assistant Director of Integrated Care, Head of Pharmacy and Medicines Management.

Summary:

  • New allocation of Influenza vaccine available from Monday 30th November 2020.
  • The additional allocation will consist of egg-based Quadrivalent Inactivated Vaccine (QIVe) Sanofi Pasteur as opposed to the cell-based Quadrivalent Inactivated Vaccine (QIVc) Flucelvax previously allocated.
  • The service specification, PGD and supporting documents have been amended to reflect the addition of the Sanofi Pasteur QIVe and can be found at www.pha.site/CPFV.

Action:

Pharmacies are asked to:

  • Ensure they use existing stock of QIVc Flucelvax in the first instance.
  • Consider accepting transfer of excess QIVc Flucelvax stock from other pharmacies before placing an order for the Sanofi Pasteur QIVe.
  • The amended PGD must be signed by the authorising manager and all pharmacists before the eggbased Quadrivalent Inactivated Vaccine (QIVe) can be administered.
  • The CPFV e-record form has been updated to allow pharmacists to select either the QIVc Flucelvax (cell based) or the QIVe Sanofi Pasteur (egg based) vaccine from Monday 30th November 2020. All staff completing CPFV e-record forms must ensure they select the correct vaccine that has been administered to the patient.
  • Standard Operating Procedures should be amended to reflect any changes.
