CPNI will host a Contractor Meeting using ZOOM software on Thursday 3rd December 2020 between 7.30pm and 9pm to provide Contractors with an update on a range of current Community Pharmacy COVID-19 related issues.

As you will be aware a lot has happened since the last CPNI Contractor Zoom Meeting that took place at the start of October; this meeting will provide you with an opportunity to receive an update on the following aspects:

  • Community Pharmacy Services including Pharmacy First, Flu and COVID-19 Vaccination services, Dispensing and Emergency Supply services.
  • Community Pharmacy Funding.
  • Community Pharmacy Operational issues including Christmas Rota, Sit-Rep reports and the implications of staff absences on the ability of pharmacies to open, and EU Exit.

CPNI was delighted with the attendance and the engagement that occurred at the October CPNI Zoom meeting and I would encourage you to make every effort to attend next Thursday’s CPNI Zoom meeting.

Zoom Logon details for the Contractor meeting will be emailed to you at the start of the week.

I look forward to seeing you next week.

Yours sincerely

Dear colleague,

Minister Swann Update on the Planned COVID-19 Vaccination Programme in Northern Ireland

This afternoon Mr Robin Swann MLA, Minister for Health provided an update on the planned COVID-19 vaccination programme in Northern Ireland. The Department of Health press release can be seen here.

Whilst the Minister is clear that the COVID-19 vaccination programme in Northern Ireland still requires regulatory approval the statement confirms that ‘GPs and community pharmacists will also have a key role to play as the programme progresses next year’.

CPNI will continue to engage with the DoH(NI), HSCB and PHA in relation to the arrangements whereby Community Pharmacists will be involved in the vaccination of those in the relevant target groups.

I am sure you will agree this is a welcome development, it demonstrates the further integration of Community Pharmacy as a key part of the Health Service in Northern Ireland at this time and it builds on the professionalism demonstrated by Community Pharmacy teams in the Department of Health’s Seasonal Influenza Vaccination Programme and the wider response by community pharmacy teams to COVID-19 this year.

CPNI will continue to keep you updated on this matter.

Yours sincerely
