SUMMARY
Movianto have been informed by SPPG of the initial quotas allocated to all contracted pharmacies for the autumn vaccine programme. From today, 21 September 2022, community pharmacies who have submitted contracts for Flu, COVID-19 or both can now proceed to log onto the Movianto web portal and order vaccine as needed, with respect to the allocated quotas.
The typical time from order to delivery is three working days however this may be longer (up to five working days) at busy times. SPPG has asked for pharmacies to allow for this delivery time when planning or advertising vaccination clinics.
The autumn booster programme is initially using Spikevax Bivalent vaccine for booster vaccinations. The original wildtype Moderna Spikevax is still available for primary doses. Please refer to the information regarding vaccine packaging outlined HERE.
A privacy notice template is available HERE, it has been written in the context of the pharmacy providing both COVID-CPVS and Flu-CPVS, however contractors can amend it to show one service as necessary.
Updated resources are available on the PHA webpages:
COVID-CPVS – printed versions of “What to expect” leaflets are being organised by PHA, as printed versions may not be available for a number of weeks, please avail of the resources HERE.
Flu-CPVS – leaflets have been distributed by PHA to pharmacies. For online versions please refer HERE.
Posters to promote the Community Pharmacy Vaccination Service (COVID-19 and/or Flu) are being organised by PHA. SPPG will advise community pharmacy teams as to delivery of printed versions and any online versions that will be made available in due course.

Contractors and pharmacists involved in the provision of this service are asked to review the correspondence.
Changes to the Discount Deduction Scale in the English Drug Tariff
Although new Discount Deduction Scale (DDS) arrangements will be applied to the English Drug Tariff from October 2022 (see HERE) SPPG has confirmed to CPNI that these changes will not be applied to the Northern Ireland Drug Tariff in October 2022.
CPNI was consulted on similar proposed Discount Deduction Scale changes, as part of several proposed changes to the Northern Ireland Drug Tariff, earlier this year.
Any decision by DoH/SPPG to potentially change the current discount recovery scale arrangements in the Northern Ireland Drug Tariff will only be taken after DoH/SPPG completes its assessment of the CPNI consultation response and further analysis and modelling work associated with changes proposed in the consultation is completed.
Please bring this to the attention of your pharmacy team(s).
Kind regards

SUMMARY
Serious shortage protocols (SSPs) under the Human Medicines Regulations 2012 (HMRs) are an additional tool to manage and mitigate medicines shortages.
In response to concerns across the UK regarding ongoing intermittent supply issues affecting some supplies of Estraderm patches, a decision has been taken by the Minister for Health to authorise the issue of two SSPs.
These SSPs currently expire on 16 September 2022, however supplies are expected to be intermittent for several months and the Department may reactivate these SSPs at a later date to manage the supply position over the coming months.
Contractors are asked to make all relevant staff aware of these updated SSPs.
Contractors should contact their local SPPG office in the first instance should further information be required.
