Dear Contractor

SECURING PERSONAL AND BUSINESS EMAILS AND MEDIA ACCOUNTS

As part of Cyber Security month, the PSNI Cyber Crime Centre and partners have been raising awareness of the steps that can be taken to secure personal email and social media accounts from being ‘hacked’.

As the most reported cyber-dependent crime by individuals in NI and the UK as a whole, the ‘hacking’ or compromise of an email or social media account can lead to the loss of personal information, images and potentially lead to the targeting or friends, family or work colleagues by an attacker using your account.

The attached document issued by the PSNI Cyber Crime Centre offers advice on securing your accounts.

ACTION

Contractors are advised to:

  • Read the attached information sheet and to take the appropriate actions to secure any relevant personal and business accounts; and
  • Raise staff awareness as to the importance of cyber security.

Further information can be accessed via the New Cyber Protect webpage HERE.

Kind regards – Mike
