Community Pharmacy Delivery Service during the Covid-19 Pandemic

Community Pharmacy Delivery Service during the Covid-19 Pandemic

In September 2020 the HSCB, in conjunction with CPNI, introduced the Community Pharmacy Delivery Service during the COVID-19 Pandemic.  The aim of this service was to ensure that eligible patients (those shielding and considered to be clinically extremely vulnerable) who did not have a family member, friend, carer or volunteer who could collect and deliver their prescription medicines on their behalf, could have their medicines delivered by the pharmacy in a manner which kept both them and pharmacy staff safe from COVID-19.  Further information on the service is available here

Communication from the HSCB to contractors in May 2021 indicated the standing down of the Community Pharmacy Delivery Service at the end of June 2021.  CPNI conducted a contractor survey to gather views on the value of the service and it is an area which remains under review.
